Apple Week Freebies

Planning an apple-themed week? Here’s a peek at some of my class’s favorite apple activities — from math to crafts — that kept my K-1 students engaged all week long. And yes, I finally joined the Apple Week club… and loved every second of it!

If you’re looking for a completely done-for-you Johnny Appleseed lesson plan, Lucky Little Learners has you covered! Also, grab a free Apple Week printable pack at the bottom of this post!

1. Apple-Themed Movement Song

We kicked things off with a catchy YouTube favorite from The Learning Station. It was perfect for morning meeting or a brain break. My students were dancing, clapping, and fully engaged.
Tip: Use this during transitions to refocus your class.

2. Simple Apple Science Activity

We made predictions: Will it sink or float?
Each student made a guess, and then we tested different apples in water.
Class moment to remember? The cheers when an apple popped back to the surface!

3. Apple Math Fun

Each student brought in an apple, and we used them to:

  • Sort by color
  • Graph the class’s favorites
  • Measure how many apples tall we were

Best part: My class loved measuring me with their apples!

Apple week height chart bulletin board titled ‘How Many Apples Tall Are You?’ with colorful apple cutouts measuring students’ height.

We were all VERY excited when we got to measure the teacher with our apples!

4. Apple Vocabulary + Anchor Chart

We learned the parts of an apple and created a quick anchor chart together:

  • Skin
  • Stem
  • Seeds
  • Core
  • Flesh

Extension: Add a labeling worksheet to your writing center.

5. Easy Apple Craft (with Display Instructions!)

This low-prep apple craft made a great hands-on art activity AND a bulletin board display.

Materials:

  • Red paper plates
  • White, black, green, and blue construction paper
  • Scissors and glue

Steps:

  1. Cut curves from each side of the red plate to make the “core.”
  2. Glue a white paper strip in the center.
  3. Add black paper “seeds.”
  4. Top with green paper “leaves.”
  5. Mount on blue paper for contrast.

Display Tip: Arrange the apples around a title like “Sweet Work from an Apple-icious Class!”
